  1. File Transfers
  2. --------------

  4. If you are in a room that ends with a "]", that means there are files
  5. available for you to download, or there is room for you to upload.
  6. Keep in mind that the files in this directory will be related to the
  7. roomname.  If you wish to view the directory, type [1][RETURN] or
  8. [R][D][RETURN] and you will be given a list of all the files in the
  9. room along with their byte size.  If you wish to view descriptions
  10. along with the filenames, type [2][RETURN] or [R][E][RETURN] and the
  11. BBS will show you descriptions with the filenames and sizes.

  13. In place of the [RETURN] option above, you can type in a filename, or
  14. partial filename, including the use of wildcards (* or ?).  This
  15. allows you to search for a specific file or groups of files instead of
  16. listing the whole directory contents.
  17.  
  18. When you know the name of the file you wish to download, simply type
  19. [D] at the room prompt, the BBS will then prompt you for a "Filename:"
  20. after which type in the complete filename you wish to receive.  The
  21. BBS will use your default transfer protocol (set up with [X] to change
  22. your configuraton, then use [I] to change your protocol) and give you 
  23. one more yes/no prompt so you can advise when you are ready.  After
  24. typing [Y]es, simply tell your telecommunications software to download
  25. with the same protocol, and you're in business.

  27. Uploading is a little easier, you don't need to get a file directory,
  28. just go to the room topic that matches your file.  Type [U] and the
  29. BBS will prompt you for a filename to upload.  Enter the filename and
  30. tell your telelcom program to send the file with your default protocl.

  32. Remember, if you wish to use a different protocol than your default,
  33. you must use the [X] command to change your configuration.  Once in
  34. this menu type [I] to change your transfer protocl, then choose X, Y,
  35. or Zmodem and exit this menu and download or upload with the new
  36. default.  See the helpfile USEREDIT.
